D01 Beijing arrival Welcome to Beijing. Beijing served as the capital of 5 dynasties over a period of 800 years with each emperor identified as a dragon sent from the heaven. Spend the rest of the day exploring the nearby streets, or resting and catching up on your jetlag.
D02 Beijing The day's sightseeing begins with a visit to the Tiananmen Square- heart of Beijing and the Forbidden City, the largest and most intact conglomeration of ancient structures of the imperial palace ever built in the world. Explore its Chambers and view the priceless treasures of China's past. In the afternoon, visit Temple of Heaven, used to offer sacrifices to heaven and pray for good harvest in ancient times, and take rickshaw to explore the Hutong, a kind of ancient-city compound, to see traditional style courtyards and locals doing their daily chores. In the evening, Watch the exciting Legend of Kungfu at Red Theatre. The show is a must-see production in Beijing for tourists and Kung Fu lovers. (B+L+D)
D03 Beijing Journey to the Great Wall and stroll along this incredible wonder, the only man-made structure visible from space! Enjoy the breathtaking view! Before returning to the city you’ll enjoy visiting the Chang Tomb (one of the Ming tombs), and the attractive tree-lined Sacred Road. This is an attractive destination as much for the natural scenery of the area as for the tombs themselves. You will also visit the the Bird Nest (Olympic National Stadium) and the Water Cube (Olympic Aquatic Center). A delicious Peking Duck Dinner awaits us at the end of the day. Peking duck has the reputation of being the most delicious food Beijing has to offer. (B+L+D)
D04 Beijing-Xian by air Today we fly to Xian, ancient capital of China. Visit the Shaanxi Provincial Historic Museum. Among the 400,000 items on display are treasures from many of the Dynasties. For the energetic, a half-hour’s hike along the Ancient City Wall, the most complete city wall that has survived in China. Dumpling Dinner with dumplings making demonstration will be served. This is an experience for the dumpling connoisseur, the flavours, shapes and colours will tempt the palette, while the elegant names and stories attached to each variety are truly amazing. (B+L+D)
D05 Xian Experience the thrill and awe of seeing the individually sculpted faces of thousands of life-sized Terra Cotta Warriors. In the afternoon, visit the 1200-year-old Wild Goose Pagoda, one of the best known Buddhist pagodas in the country and Great Mosque, one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved Islamic mosques in China, famous for its particular design of mixed architecture - traditional Muslim and Chinese styles. In the evening, enjoy Tang Dynasty Show. The show is treasured as a national art which fully reflects the glory and richness of the Tang dynasty era, the golden time in Chinese history over a thousand years ago. (B+L+D)
D06 Xian-Nanjing by air Fly to Nanjing and begin the tour with Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, the first double deck and double track highway and railway bridge designed and constructed by Chinese themselves. Visit Nanjing City Wall, the longest ancient city wall in the world and the Zhonghua City Gate, the biggest and most splendid city gate of Nanjing city wall. (B+L)
D07 Nanjing-Suzhou by train Visit Mausoleum of Sun Yat-sen, the well-known leader of the democratic movement in China who worked together with his colleagues to overthrow China’s imperial system and some biographical information about his life. Have a casual walk in the area around the old Confucius Temple. It is now the ideal place for sightseeing, shopping, dim sum sampling, and entertainment. Taste the famous 24 courses of Dim Sum while enjoying the entertainment as the Ming emperors of old did. Take train to Suzhou, the city referred as Oriental Venice. (B+L)
D08 Suzhou Visit Lingering Garden, the best garden in Suzhou as well as being one of the four most famous gardens in China, and Master of Nets Garden, the smallest yet the most impressive one because of its use of space which creates the illusion of an area that is much greater than its actual size. Tour a silk factory, where you can learn how silk is extracted from silk worms, and gain some hands-on experience turning it into the fine material used to create Chinese costumes. In the afternoon, cruise on Grand Canal, the longest man-made waterway as well as being the greatest in ancient China, far surpassing the next two grand canals of the world: the Suez and Panama Canals. (B+L)
D09 Suzhou-Tongli-Shanghai Drive to water town Tongli with a history spanning over 1000 years and renown for its beautiful rivers, historic bridges and opulent court yard homes. Proceed to Shanghai. Stroll in the Nanjing Road, one of the most popular fashion and shopping destinations in China, and visit the Bund (Wai Tan) waterfront area, the best place to capture the western influence of the old days. (B+L)
D10 Shanghai A sightseeing journey today takes us to the Jade Buddha Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in China which contains two Burmese jade Buddha statues, and Yu Garden with a history of 400 years. It is characteristic of the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty. The neighboring Yuyuan Bazaar, known as "Old City God's Temple Market", is the place where visitors loitering among a cluster of shops, restaurants and recreation facilities invariably find themselves making a tour of discovery of local folklore and Ming and Qing architecture. Climb Oriental TV Tower for a bird eye view of the city. In the evening, watch stunning acrobatic extravaganza- Era-intersection time. As the first of its kind in China, it is the combination of traditional Chinese acrobatic arts and modern technology. (B+L+D)
D11 Shanghai departure Depart Shanghai for the next destination. (B) |
